When it's on unfamiliar territory - astronomical objects, for example - not so much. When it's able to recognize and re-build the areas properly, it's far ahead of any traditional solutions. Topaz De-Noise does things very differently by using AI to re-construct parts of the image mangled by noise. I have trouble getting good color out of DXO, and it's so slow I've literally lost jobs because an hour process turned into four, but when time isn't a factor and we get pleasing color, it's great. DXO is the best of breed of the traditional noise reduction software. ![]() Jared Polin is a fine photographer and knowledgeable reviewer. ![]() Really give you a good feel for the user experience and level of results the R4 provides. This is an excellent and persuasive hour-long real world review of using an A7R4 to cover a major presidential candidate (Bernie Sanders in Iowa-there are zero political comments in the video) for three days in Iowa. Interestingly enough, most of his favorite photos (and the end of the video) seem to have been captured with Sigma lenses. Perhaps not everyone’s favorite YouTuber/Photographer, but I found this real-life review pretty informative and comforting. ![]() Have you used DXO PhotoLab's Prime noise reduction, which is excellent? I'd be interested in a comparison to Topaz Denoise, which I have never used. This software is incredible and worth every penny!! In regards to noise reduction while maintaining maximum details I've seen nothing better than Topaz Denoise. DPreview of Sony A7RIV is up - rated Gold 91%.
